Last night was a late night - but a productive one. I kind of want to share more photos, but I also don't want to ruin the surprise. I promise I'll share more after the present is opened.
I got to hang out for the evening with Baby C's mom, and it was a lot of fun - although we worked our tails off to get this project done. After I got home I was kicking myself for not taking any photos while we were working - there were giant circles of fabric all over the store's floor - bright primaries and soft pastels.
I certainly have more than my fair share of to-do's left on my to-do list, but as I learned long ago - sometimes you have to put the list down and do something creative - get lost in a completely different task - or hang out with friend. Sure, it was a gift for someone else, but it was a little bit for me as well. I challenged myself this year to connect back to my grandmother in ways that I did when I was younger, and I have. I've tackled some big projects this year - some a bit beyond my skill level and my time constraints. None of them are perfect, but they are really good. And as B said last night - "Perfect is the enemy of good." Actually, maybe I didn't quote that exactly right - like I said, it was a late night. But we both let go of perfect (since we know neither of us are) and we made something(s) really, really good. I ripped out a few more seams than she did, but I also brought cake to the class, so bonus points there.
I ate a slice of that cake for dinner last night at eleven o'clock, in a silent house with the Christmas tree lights still on, and a stack of unsent cards on the table, and then went to bed, full and satisfied.
